Religion, Media & LGBT

I have been asked recently to provide quotes for a large number of different regional newspapers and student groups.... Below is one of my favourites to date!!

Religion is conceptual, it is about how we feel we should view our relationship to the world as a whole..... In other words, a rather large concept to grasp from any angle. For this reason, the misconceptions bred by certain religious institutions, their followers and those who choose to explain the teachings of holy texts are merely colour blind (as a metaphor of course). In this world there are so many colours! To say that pink, for example, is the one colour we should abhor and that blue is the 'holiest' colour is as odd a phrase as to say that a benevolent god would allow and even make it possible two people to fall in love and that this relationship should cause the two pain and suffering en mass from a community that believes that love is the key to personal happiness, thus the sacrament of marriage.

Religion teaches that we should choose one and build the relationship with them slowly..... and that original sin is the misuse of carnal lust as a means of pleasure, not an act of love. How can it be that ANY two are capable of love, but for certain individuals this is jaded and considered a sin against the god that created it.

By accepting that no one individual is better or worse than another.... or that we are ALL BORN EQUAL, we come closer to a society that matches the beauty of the rainbow held within.

A bit pretentious I'll grant you but it was in response to a clergiman that had criticised the labour government for recieving support from the LGBT community.....

Silly, silly boy!!!
