Brighton & Hove Dog Show
5th July 2009
With the event reaching its seventh year, it may be a somewhat odd way of celebrating LGBTQ Pride, but it nevertheless is an event to be marked out on the calender. With its own blend of eccentricities, it presents a unique and practical way of integrating ALL pets & their owners, REGARDLESS of creed, colour or... sexuality!
The event is held at Hove Rugby Football Club in association with the Coastway Veterinary Group. Registration costs £2 per class, entry for spectators is free and everybody is welcome. There will be pedigree classes, condition classes and everyone’s favourite, the novelty classes. The Kennel Club registered event promises to be even more fun and entertaining than in previous years!
Hove Rugby Football Club are again kindly donating their facilities free of charge. There will be a bar, refreshments and trade stands to keep all owners, friends and families entertained.
Perhaps one of the most interesting stories that symbolised the uniqueness of this particular event was the debt sale of the Youdoodog, the world's first ever make-your-own dog kit. Creator, Sarah Lu was first seen successfully pitching for investment on the popular BBC programme Dragons' Den.
Sarah Lu donated prizes for the 10 novelty dog show classes at the celebrated annual event. £1 from the sale of each Youdoodog was given to help the work of Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity caring for over 16,000 stray or abandoned dogs through its network of 17 re-homing centres across the UK.
