Scottish Borders Pride Barbecue

6th June 2009

Every year the Borders LGBT Forum organise a Barbecue for members of the LGBTQ community. 2009 is no exception! It is a small friendly afternoon event, now with welly-throwing and boules. Barbecueing facilities and basic foodstuffs will be provided. The forum do request that you bring meat to eat and something to drink. The event is held at Boleside Picnic Site, Galashiels, by the River Tweed.

As a matter of interest, the Borders LGBT Forum is this year celebrating its 25th Anniversary, having been set up in Hawick back in 1984. What started off as ambitious plans to hold a gay disco in Maxton Village Hall in September 1985 developed to the first video night (these nights have been running off and on for 23 years!) and on to a multitude of different events to raise awareness and a sense of community within it's members. This includes a regular meeting once a month in Galashiels town centre.
